We thought we’d start the year off with a taster of the many images we’ve done for our top turf client Everris. As you can see the grass could not be greener. Shot at the beautiful Belfry, fantastic award winning pitch of Aston Villa and great Leeds rugby club.

A Christmas ‘Do’

This year our work do was a sensible mixture of food and alcohol.

First off, the team headed to the famous American BBQ blowout Bodean’s to line / fill our stomachs for the festive deluge of booze to come.
After a few refreshment stops we ended up at a house in Shoreditch where we were joined by Lady Tricia and her Finnish friend.
The younger ones went clubbing while older ones struggled home.

New to the ‘hood

Say Hello to our latest signing; the mysterious but cosy Rachelle.
A music maniac, she is working mainly on our newest client, the mighty Livemusic.fm, the amazing music community.
With experience of the Brit school, XFM and sharp fringes, she surfs the zeitgest for us while eat rich tea biscuits.

Cinematic Panoramics

Empire Cinemas requested some shots of their cinema so that’s what we did…
We made the shots more interesting than your run of the mill snaps by taking multiple shots and merging them together in re-touching, using dramatic angles and adding members of the public (blurred for two reasons; they are not the focus of the shot and for privacy issues).

Some effects take a lot of ingredients, as was the case with this Poster.
Within the different photoshop layers that make up the experience are the following odd and not so strange photos and pieces of graphics:

The screening booth from a Impact screen in Basildon
A shiny bit of metal ruler in Islington
A David Bowie CD (Station to Station)
A crystal from a rather camp Victorian candle stick
A Derbyshire sky
A Japanese comic blast
And a warped lot of lines.

An audience with… IMPACT

Here’s a little insight into what it takes to bring to life an ad for Empire Cinemas.

After getting the auditorium concept approved and carrying out test shots we organised for approximately 30 models to be the IMPACT audience. We systematically moved them to different positions within the auditorium taking photos to cover all the seats in view of the shot (the auditorium holds around 180). The shots were all put together in re-touching to create the final image below, showing as if by magic a full auditorium. The film imagery (X-Men: First Stand) was inserted into the interchangeable screen area, typographical elements and logos were added and screen effects were applied to show the IMPACT experience… And voilà, a poster was finished.

Here is the IMPACT teaser poster showing the fantastic experience of the IMPACT screen. The image is made up of many layers of interwoven imagery; we thought it would be fun to show you just a few of the effects. Each layer illustrates the sights, sounds and comfort at an IMPACT screen.

Clean, quirky, retro and FUN. Just like the vans themselves..

Bringing to life an angry wife

The job of animation is a complicated thing involving frame upon frame of subtle movement that when put together fools the eye into thinking all the images are connected. Here’s a little look into how some recent animation was created for Snoreeze, Europe’s largest snoring remedy.

After the creative and storyboards were signed off some initial master frames were illustrated which showed the major points of the action.

Then a top model was picked to base the action on (thank you so much Cheryl Taylor – www.cheryl-taylor.com) and a series of action shots were taken.

These images then became the basis of a series of illustrations which when tweaked, made her look tired and grumpy.

These were then tested to see how they looked in motion.

After this more illustrations were drawn to go in between and then put into the hands of a master animator
(thank you so much Angela Nightingale – www.angelanightingale.com) who sprinkled some stardust on it and made the couple come alive.

All to make couples sleep together in peace and harmony!

A new member of the BE team…

After a long selection process we are proud to introduce our new colleague… Eduardo Cactus, our new permalance.

His previous expertise is in green issues (conserving water) and security.
Although he may appear a touch prickly he’ll soon win you round with his sparkling repartee and when it comes to drinking games he is unbeatable at the tequila shots.
He never makes the tea though…
